#ThrowbackThursday A case study out of the University of Cambridge outlines the story of a hidden parasite that resulted in the death of all but two seahorses from a captive colony. Upon arrival from Florida, these animals appeared perfectly healthy, but it was later revealed that they carried an infection known as Glugea heraldi that proved to be fatal. This case demonstrates that visual inspections are insufficient – to protect captive marine life, quarantine and deep screenings are crucial.
