About us

We are leaders in marine conservation, making discoveries through research and collaborating globally to take effective action for seahorses and their seas. Our approach is as multi-layered as the pressures on marine life. We connect our research to community initiatives, fisheries management and policy advocacy to advance marine conservation.

Reflections from SyngCo with our research biologist Elsa Camins

We caught up with Elsa to hear about what it meant to represent both Project Seahorse and the global experts group on seahorses and their relatives at SyngCo, a scientific conference dedicated to the conservation and research of these iconic fishes in Las Palmas De Gran Canaria.

Seahorses are powerful ambassadors for the ocean

Their charm sparks curiosity and helps shine a light on bigger issues facing our world’s coastal marine ecosystems, such as unsustainable fisheries and habitat loss. They are found globally and live in some of the ocean’s most vital habitats: coral reefs, seagrass meadows, seaweed beds, mangrove forests, murky bottoms and even in open waters. With seahorses at the heart of our mission, we rally action that protects the ecosystems they live in and share with countless others.

Project Seahorse is on a big mission

“In saving seahorses, we champion the well-being of our marine ecosystems.”
